Join Wellington-based artist Hana Dean for a portrait painting workshop exploring composition, colour, and technique. This workshop will run from 9:30am - 4pm in two 3-hour sessions, with 30 minutes break for lunch.

Through both drawing and painting exercises participants will learn key principles of underpainting, colour theory, and paint application. Hana will share insights into her creative process while supporting each participant to develop their own expressive portrait from a digital image.

This workshop will run in two 3-hour sessions, with 30 minutes break for lunch:

  • 9:30am - 12:30pm
  • 1pm - 4pm

What to bring:

  • An A4 colour and black-and-white copy of your chosen image to paint. This can be of yourself, a friend, a family member, or a celebrity.
  • Suitable clothing for painting
  • Any optional painting materials – we have material here, but if you have any brushes or materials of your own that you’d like to use, feel free to bring those along
