In this workshop, artist Kari Morseth will guide participants to explore resourceful and mindful making through weaving and journalling. Using simple techniques and accessible materials, participants will learn twining and two-string weaving methods to bind, connect, and create - forming both a small eco-artwork and a hand-made journal. Workshop runs from 10am-1pm.

The session begins with mindful foraging and the making of two small folded books, followed by an introduction to twining with tīkōuka (cabbage tree) leaves and two string-weaving techniques for binding. Participants will use their handmade books for note-taking and sketches while exploring outside to gather additional materials – from leaves and fibres to found urban fragments.

Participants will then plan and construct a small eco-artwork using their collected materials and weaving techniques. The workshop concludes with a collaborative component in Te Atamira’s outdoor space.
