In this workshop led by Ruby Wilkinson, experiment with gestural drawing, fabric dyeing, and colouring techniques before cutting and reassembling fabrics into quilt-like panels.
Participants will experiment with gestural drawing, fabric dyeing, and colouring techniques before cutting and reassembling their fabrics into quilt-like panels. Each person will create a unique piece to take home, combining playful mark-making with hands-on textile processes.
About Ruby Wilkinson:
Ruby Wilkinson is a painter based in Pōneke whose abstract practice explores emotional and sensory experience through colour, movement, and gesture. A graduate of Massey University’s School of Art in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, she works intuitively, experimenting with materials to create atmospheric and emotive spaces that evoke moments of reflection and connection.
Wilkinson, represented by Jhana Millers Gallery in Wellington, has received national recognition through the Supreme Award at the NZ Painting and Printmaking Award (2021) and the Merit Award at the Molly Morpeth Canaday Painting & Drawing Award (2023).
