Ōtautahi-based artist Kim Lowe is hosting an exploratory workshop in Chinese ink and brush techniques. Sunday 7 August, 11am - 1pm | MAHI TAHI



All materials provided. The workshop is limited to 12 participants.

No experience necessary, just curiosity.

Artist's bio

Kim Lowe is an artist, printmaker and educator originally from Murihiku Southland and based in Ōtautahi Christchurch. Her work often draws on her mixed NZ Chinese ancestry for inspiration along with elements of land and nature, and her practice moves between painting and print techniques.

Kim completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Printmaking) from Otago Art school in 1996 and an MFA in Printmaking (University of Canterbury) in 2009. She was the Olivia Spencer Bower Award recipient for 2019 and a finalist in the recent NZ Painting and Printmaking awards 2021.


Kim currently is a senior lecturer at Ara Institute of Canterbury in Creativity and Art and Design; and has helped to initiate community building projects including Shared Lines, Sendai:Christchurch Art Exchange;  Thinking of Place I,II & III international print exchanges; and Toi Te Karoro a community print studio in post-quake New Brighton.

She has works in national and international collections including The James Wallace Trust Collection and Te Puna o Waiwhetu Christchurch Art Gallery (Olivia Spencer Bower Collection).
