29 September: Exploring the Nature of Indian Ink (with Merle Sea)
In this session, participants will get a chance to explore a range of ways to work with Indian Ink. It is all about being playful! You will go on a short guided tour through a couple of different techniques with ink and water and see where it takes you. We will use traditional brushes and natural materials like feathers and sharpened sticks to create monochrome artworks. No experience needed - just bring an open mind and wear something dark that is not precious, in case you get some ink on it.
- About your facilitator: Merle Sea comes from a graphic design background with a passion for all things hands-on and human. From design to screen printing, drawing, collage and sewing things out of discarded materials; she stumbled across Indian Ink through Inktober a couple of years ago. While exploring new artforms and challenges, she fell in love with the simple beauty of the black liquid. She believes that ink is the best antidote to modern life: you can't control the outcome - you just have to set it in motion, surrender and marvel at the result!
