Voices Unleashed is an immersive experience in choral music, combining five choirs from our illustrious community of voices, of varying sizes and styles. Friday 8 September, 7:30pm | PUĀWAI | $35

You can stand or sit with the choir, or move through our gallery and performance spaces as the music invites you. With the Te Atamira bar open and five local choirs performing at different times, this will be a surprising and entertaining feast of music - you may even be moved to take part in the performance!

Joining us for Voices Unleashed:

Songbirds are a 25+ strong women’s choir that perform in and around the Wakatipu.  Born out of a love for singing they are mastered and arranged by Corina Sommerville.  They work with contemporary songs and invite you to join in their energy and enthusiasm.

Project Symphonize are a collaborative project of 12 musicians who have arranged and conducted diverse compositions. Their focus is on a-cappella, 5-part harmonies and exploring different styles.  They invite you to experience the power of the voice combined.

Wasabi are a Japanese language choir mastered by Meg Hirata.  Meg is an accomplished singer and musician who arranges traditional and contemporary Japanese songs (as well as contemporary English songs sung in Japanese) into 3-part harmony.  They invite you to experience the beauty, grace and musical excellence of their songs.

Waiata Tia are a celebration of Te Reo and the traditional songs that shape Maori culture.  They are a 20+ choir driven by the wisdom and passion of Cory Ratahi who is also an avid teacher of Maori language and culture.  They invite you to immerse yourself in Aotearoa’s first language and the beautiful timeless messages that Waiata share.

In Harmony is the brainchild of Natasha Wilson and are intensive weekends dedicated to exploring different shapes of choral harmonies drawing on examples from Motown, musicals and most recently “Disney”.  Natasha will assemble a splintered down ensemble of singers to showcase some of their favourites.  She invites you to connect with the ingenuity of 3-4 solo voices working together.

Community Sing was started by Margaret O’Hanlon (The Singers Workshop NZ) and has been a part of our community since May 2022 and is an ‘open’ inclusive choir where everybody is welcome.  The songs chosen are popular and well known and Choir Masters offer very basic harmony parts. We invite you to SING.
