How to Make a One-Piece Mould + Slip Casting Pottery Workshop with Susannah Bridges & Wakatipu Potters.
Participants will learn how to:
- Create simple hump forms for mould making
- Mix and pour plaster to produce a one-piece mould
- Correctly dry and prepare plaster moulds
- Use moulds for slip casting
- Mix and pour clay slip to form an object
- Drain excess slip from moulds
- Release formed shapes safely
- Fettle and refine pieces ready for bisque firing and glazing
A practical, step-by-step session designed to build confidence in foundational slip casting techniques.

About Your Facilitator:
Susannah Bridges (B.Des) is an Auckland based artist/designer. She is well known for her work with ceramics and light. Her work has been acquired by the Auckland Museum, The Dowse Art Museum and MTG Hawkes Bay. Susannah’s work is widely recognized within New Zealand and has also been exhibited offshore. She has received both national and international awards.
As well as producing ceramics and lighting for the home, Susannah has been commissioned to create bespoke lighting and functional ware for commercial use. Site specific and one-off commissions can be accepted. She has also designed and made furniture and produced sculptural works and installations for exhibition
