Join us for an artist talk with Lisa Walker ONZM, one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most influential contemporary jewellers, in conversation with her exhibition HEAD at Te Atamira. This talk will last 60 minutes. It is free to attend, but bookings are essential are spaces are limited.

Walker’s practice engages with jewellery as an expansive field working across materials, processes, and forms, she explores how objects can hold meaning, recognition, and ambiguity without settling into a single definition or reading.

HEAD, is a new body of work presented at Te Atamira for the first time. The works begin with something familiar, the human head, and develop through a process of making that is responsive and open-ended. Stitched, padded, and beaded forms emerge through decision-making in the studio rather than pre-determined outcomes, resulting in objects that hover between figure and object, presence and construction.

We invite you to come and hear from Lisa about her work, practice, and the things she thinks about during development of the show. There will be an opportunity for questions at the end.

All Welcome, but bookings are required.
