VENUE:
MAHI TAHI
$60

In this workshop, you will learn to eco-print using local plant materials and an iron-based mordant. This method creates clear, dark leaf prints, and is suitable for cellulose fabric – perfect for upcycling clothing or creating original fabric! Saturday 14 January | 9:30am - 12:30pm and 2pm - 5pm | MAHI TAHI

We will also have a go at eco-printing on paper to create unique and natural artworks.

Please bring along an item of clothing or some fabric to dye. Choose white or light coloured natural fibres - wool, silk, cotton, linen etc. Used clothing is great - have a look in local op shops or the back of your wardrobe. If you do choose to bring new fabric or clothing, please wash thoroughly in hot water beforehand. Also feel free to bring along any plant material you may want to use.

A few things that work well are:
- Eucalyptus leaves
- Rose leaves and petals.
- Blackberry/raspberry/strawberry leaves.
- Deciduous tree leaves, e.g. oak, maple, sycamore.
- Onion skins
- Some bright coloured flowers, e.g. marigolds, dahlias.
- Some fruit tree leaves e.g. feijoa & pear.
