Te Atamira has invited our multicultural community to come together and host a series of kai nights to honour Matariki. This is an opportunity for all to share the unique food traditions of each culture and to reflect upon the significance of Matariki, which symbolises remembrance, celebration, and hope.

Discover the flavors of different cultures with our delightful tasters and immerse yourself in a diverse culinary experience, savoring a variety of delectable bites.

*Note: full meals are not provided.

Japanese Family Society of Queenstown

Tuesday 20 June, 6-8pm

Experience the deep cultural heritage of Japan. Join the Japanese Family Society of Queenstown who will serve up some delicious Japanese food and provide a unique Kendama demonstration. They will also liven up the night with a selection of traditional Japanese songs, allowing guests to savour the culture and vibrancy of Japan.

The Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Group

Tuesday 27 June, 6-8pm

Make sure to wear bright and colourful clothes for this special kai night event, as the Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Group will present a variety of Malaysian, Chinese and Indian delicacies, allowing you to savour the flavours of their culture. To add to the experience, they will also perform traditional sing along.

Peruvian community

Wednesday 5 July, 6-8pm

The members of the Queenstown Peruvian community consider their group close-knit and enjoy showcasing their vibrant culture. They will be providing their renowned ceviche dish and two dances - Marinera and Afroperuvian - for everyone to enjoy. The different colours and striking costumes of the dancers, combined with music, create a vibrant atmosphere and a great opportunity to enjoy an authentic cultural experience through food, music, and dance.
