Julian, the playwright says, " I am vitally interested in exploring both the gifts and challenges passed down to us through our ancestors, and to see how we might best navigate them to live worthwhile lives and pass on greater gifts for future generations".

This work is a co-creation between Māori writer and actor Julian Noel and director and fellow actor Martine Baanvinger, who specialises in one person shows.

The play is based on a book written by Julian. Whilst it is fictional there is a thread of truth that runs through the show and features the life and work of his mother, Māori artist and poet, Eve Patuawa Nathan.

Of this emerging production, a close friend said, "Sheesh if the badly sung songs don't kill you... the scones will".  Dear reader, with friends like that, who needs recalcitrant ancestors?

PLEASE NOTE: these three performances are a'work in progress'. This is not the finished work. This is ideal viewing for anyone who is a writer/playwright or emerging actor wanting to further their knowledge and experience of creating performance pieces.

There will be time for scones, tea and discussion after the performance...
