Join artist Robyn Bardas (MFA) and Te Atamira for the opening of Bone is Bone. Free to attend, all are welcme.

This new exhibition brings together sculpture, video, and text, exploring connection through close observation of horses.

Developed through ongoing classical study and shaped by time spent alongside living animals, the work invites viewers into a space of attention, care, and interspecies exchange.

Since 2019, Robyn has been studying classical methodologies in Europe, most recently at the Barcelona Academy of Art. In her Hāwea Flat studio, a horse skull became a still model, while living horses offered movement, presence, and relationship. Influences such as The Tao of Equus by Linda Kohanov inform an approach grounded in what Robyn describes as “old intelligence”, a way of knowing carried through the body, proximity, and shared environments.

Bone is Bone brings together new sculptural works, video, and writing, including excerpts from an ongoing book project. The exhibition considers how knowledge can be felt, sensed, and exchanged across species, what Robyn refers to as “interspecific information.”

All are welcome to join us for the opening.
