Book now for this year's At the World's Edge Festival - a Chamber Music Festival in the heart of the Southern Alps. With six festival programmes weaving together between free events and community performances, come along for a powerful exploration of identity, perspectives, and cultural dimensions through the lens of classical music in New Zealand. Friday 6 October - Friday 20 October | WHAKAARI

A musical journey through the unmatched beauty of the Queenstown Lakes, the third AWE Festival begins in Queenstown with Sono at Te Atamira, introducing us to a world of exploration and identity. Travelling for the first time to Bannockburn, Hommàge looks back to inspire new innovations before moving on to Cromwell’s Cloudy Bay Shed for this year’s highly sought-after music and wine pairing event, Muzikální.

Returning to Queenstown, Immemorial offers an emotionally mesmerising programme of music that encourages reflection and memorialises important moments, ideas and people. Preceded by some not-to-be-missed free performances, including Sei Solo: Violin & Dance, all Te Atamira performances will be taking place amongst our dramatic exhibition of portraits by Abhi Chinniah within WHAKAARI.

The AWE journey culminates in Wānaka’s stunning Rippon Winery with the final two programmes in the exploration of home, culture and identity, Homeland and Manifesto.

This year’s Festival Artists include some of New Zealand’s most admired musicians playing alongside international talents, such as ‘trailblazing artist’ Jordan Bak from the USA, the ‘musical Bear Grylls’ of British horn playing Ben Goldscheider, and ‘soulful, refined and poetic’ cellist Alice Neary.

In tandem with the Festival programme, AWE+ offers a series of free events exploring deeper the lives and music of our artists, including composer and artist talks, open rehearsals - just to name a few.
