These programmes are primarily for enrichment and support of young people to help them develop creative confidence, explore multiple art forms and build practical artistic skills. Over the last year, our education programmes saw more than 4,500 participations in school visits, after-school classes, and holiday workshops.
Our Education Team is always eager to hear from any parents, teachers, or local artists keen to get involved in our programmes in any way. Whether you have questions, suggestions, or wish to express your interest in being part of what we do, you can email us at any time on education@teatamira.nz.

Every school term, Te Atamira runs Afterschool Programmes for tamariki (children) aged 5-13, covering a range of arts practices. A typical term schedule includes drawing, painting and mixed media activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and pottery skills on Wednesdays.
Our qualified Arts Education team creates a fun, supportive environment designed to enrich and support young people to help them develop creative confidence, explore multiple art forms and build practical artistic skills…. all while having fun.
Our afterschool classes are bookable as a full term, but we also run taster sessions on Week 1 of each term so parents can meet the team and give their child a taster, ensuring it’s the right fit before committing to the full term.
Art Space for Teens is a relaxed, supportive visual arts space for teens aged 14-18 to experiment, create, and follow their own ideas. No pressure, grades, or expectation of prior experience. Flexible timing means teens can make their way to us afterschool every Monday during term time and stay as long as they like until 5:30pm.
While creativity and freedom lead the way, qualified teacher Kelly will provide guidance and encouragement along your journey. Whether you’re building a portfolio, making for fun, craving a space that allows more creative freedom, or just looking for an arty place to belong, Art Space is for you.
A space to experiment. A space to fail safely. A space to follow your ideas. A space where creativity belongs to you. Art Space is able to be booked one week/class at a time.
