Distinguished Māori weaver Roka Hurihia Cameron brings her woven kākahu (cloaks) and taonga pūoro (musical instruments) to Te Atamira, and talks about interweaving different cultures in her work as a kairaranga (weaver) and kaiāko (teacher). Sunday 16 July | 2 - 3 pm | PUAWAI

Roka Hurihia Cameron, MNZM, is an internationally recognised taonga (treasure) in Māori Arts. She holds a Master of Fine Arts and a degree in Social Work and Community Studies. A lifetime of weaving with harakeke (flax) and other materials has seen her exhibit widely in Aotearoa, Australia, Canada, Fiji, Samoa and America.

Join us in a discussion with Roka about her life and work, and get up close to beautifully crafted cloaks made from muka (flax fibre), wool, and skins, as well as traditionally made taonga pūoro (musical instruments).

Roka will be joined by her students from SIT who will be exhibiting their term's work throughout the day.
