Cyanotype Workshop:

Learn about the process of creating cyanotypes in this hands-on workshop which reflects the use of the cyanotype in the exhibition Notes in the Border, Notes at the River, Notes from the Ocean. We will look at making cyanotypes based on text (from handwriting) and objects.

In this workshop you will explore creating your own photograms and photographic images using the alternative photographic process of cyanotype. Students will learn about using and mixing cyanotype chemicals, how to apply cyanotype to paper, creating negatives and how to print using the natural light of the sun.

Participants will have the opportunity to create their own cyanotype photograms during the workshop.

Taller de Cianotipia:

Aprenda sobre el proceso de creación de cianotipos en este taller práctico que refleja el uso de la cianotipia en la exposición Notas en la frontera, Notas en el río, Notas del océano. Veremos cómo crear cianotipos basados en texto (escrito a mano) y objetos.

En este taller, explorará la creación de sus propios fotogramas e imágenes fotográficas utilizando el proceso fotográfico alternativo de la cianotipia. Los alumnos aprenderán a utilizar y mezclar los productos químicos de la cianotipia, a aplicar la cianotipia al papel, a crear negativos y a imprimir utilizando la luz natural del sol.

Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de crear sus propios fotogramas de cianotipia durante el taller.

No se necesita experiencia previa. Se proporcionan todos los materiales.

About the Artists:

Jeffrey Holdaway is an artist and art technician based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. A graduate of the AUT Visual Arts school he works with digital art, watercolour, drawing, sound and photography.

‍

Alys Longley is a Professor of Creative Arts at the University of Auckland working with text, cyanotype, print and performance.

‍

Máximo Corvalán-Pincheira is an internationally recognised Chilean artist working with drawing, sculpture and installation. All artists are showing their work in the current exhibition: Notes in the Border, Notes at the River, Notes from the Ocean.

Acerca de los artistas:

Jeffrey Holdaway es un artista y técnico artístico afincado en Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland. Graduado por la Escuela de Artes Visuales de la AUT, trabaja con arte digital, acuarela, dibujo, sonido y fotografía.
